Have you considered doing an Industrial Placement? If you're currently studying towards an IT, computer science, design/web design, business, or for some of our placements, a psychology or data science degree we'd be keen to hear from you.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop your skills and business knowledge before heading back to university to complete your degree.
You’ll be encouraged to ask questions, explore new approaches and develop yourself as a valued member of the HMRC Digital team.
Our HMRC digital 2021 Industrial Placement Scheme is open for placements starting in September 2021.
This year we have
- 24 placements on offer
- in 9 locations
- with 14 different roles
Each industrial placement will be employed for 9-12 months and earn a salary of £24,818 (National); £28,706 (London) pro rata.

As part of the application process you will need to:
• Send us a CV and detail on how you meet the eligibility criteria for this placement.
• Complete a 1000 word personal statement demonstrating how you meet the essential criteria and why you are interested in the role.
Applicants will be sifted on CVs and personal statements submitted against the essential criteria found of each of the the job adverts.
If your application is successful, we'll invite you to take part in a virtual interview and if your interview is successful you will be offered a placement with us, starting in September.

Note - to be eligible to apply, you must:
- be studying full time in your second year of university towards a relevant IT, computer science, design/web design, business or psychology degree
- be fluent in English
- be eligible to apply to the UK Civil Service. In summary, only nationals from the following countries (or associations of countries) are generally eligible for employment in the Civil Service: the United Kingdom (and British protected persons), the Republic of Ireland, the Commonwealth, the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland and Turkey. Certain family members of EEA, Swiss and Turkish nationals are also eligible regardless of their nationality.
